Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a complex mental health disorder that can affect a child attention span and level of activity. It can have a major impact on the child’s success in school, on their outlook on life and their interpersonal relationships.
About half of children and teens with ADHD are known to have other associated conditions such as learning disabilities. Therefore it is almost impossible to treat ADHD as an isolated disorder.
For personal reasons and experiences, I decided to share a few things I know about ADHD and related conditions. I hope it will encourage and assist families and as well educate more people who wonder what exactly we are talking about when we mention “special needs”.
